Atta Halwa (Whole Wheat Flour Halwa)

Recipe

  • Place a kadhai on medium flame and add 2 cups of water to it. 
  • Then, add one cup of Sugar or Jaggery Powder to the kadhai to make a solution.
  • Meanwhile, in another kadhai add ½ cup Ghee. 
  • When the Ghee becomes hot, add 1 tsp each of Cashews and Almonds. 
  • In the same kadhai, add 1 cup of Atta. 
  • Stir, mix and roast over a low medium flame until it turns brown. 
  • When the mixture is roasted well, add the Sugar and Water solution to it. 
  • Continue to stir and mix well to avoid lumping. 
  • Roast until the Atta absorbs the water. 
  • Now, add fried Cashews and Nuts to it. 
  • Serve hot or cold according to your choice. 

Makki Di Roti

Makki Di Roti is a very popular type of roti in the states of Punjab and Haryana. It is made from corn or maize flour and is served alongside Sarson ka Saag. Makki Di Roti is a good source of Vitamin A, C, K, beta-carotene, and selenium. Therefore, it is good for your skin, heart, digestion, and overall functioning of the body. 

Recipe

  • Mix 2 cups of Maize Flour with Ajwain and Salt in a bowl.
  • Add water according to your needs and knead into a dough.
  • Once prepared, roll out small balls of the dough.
  • Flatten it out in a circular shape.
  • Cook on a non-stick frying pan while turning it over occasionally.
  • Garnish with Ghee or Butter. Ready to serve!

Chapati 

Chapati is a whole wheat flatbread that is very popular in India. Served alongside any dish, chapati is prominent in an Indian’s diet. Also, the name Chapati means 'slap' in Urdu. It is called by the name because it is made by slapping the whole wheat dough between the palms. As chapati is made with whole wheat flour, it makes it to the list of everyday healthy meals. 

Recipe

  • Pour 2 cups of Atta into a deep bowl.
  • Add water according to the need to knead the dough.
  • Set aside the prepared dough for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Now, spread little atta on the surface.
  • Take a little amount of dough and make a round ball.
  • Flatten the round ball to make a circular shape.
  • Cook the circular shape on the Tawa and turn it over occasionally.
  • Garnish it with some Ghee or Butter.
  • Serve with any side dish like Sabji or Dal.

Aloo Paratha

The delicious Indian Aloo Paratha is an all-time favorite dish of many North Indians. Served with butter and chutney, it makes for a wonderful dinner. You just need 5-6 potatoes, spices, oil, whole wheat flour, and some herbs like dhania (coriander leaves) or pudina (mint leaves). You can even make other types of paratha with different fillings of cabbage, paneer, dal, etc.

Recipe

  • Make basic dough with 2 cups of Whole Wheat Flour, 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Oil, and Water as required. 
  • Boil, peel, and mash 5-6 Potatoes. 
  • Add spices like Red Chilli Powder, Haldi Powder and some herbs like Coriander Leaves to the mashed potatoes. 
  • Stuff the mashed Potatoes in the dough. 
  • Make round-shaped parathas.
  • Heat in a medium flame over a pan.
  • Serve with Butter and/or Chutney.

Kathi Rolls

Kathi Roll is one of the most famous street foods in India. It was first introduced during the Mughal period. Since then, Indians have embraced the authenticity and flavors of Kathi rolls. Made with whole wheat flour, vegetables, or chicken and mutton, Kathi rolls are a good source of various nutrients and fiber. By consuming the Kathi rolls, you can maintain your health well.  

Recipe

  • Boil 1 medium-sized potato.
  • Now make a simple atta roti. 
  • For the filling, heat a pan with Sunflower Oil. Add 1 tsp Jeera and ½ tsp Hing. 
  • Now, add 1 chopped Onions and saute until a little brown.
  • Add 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste. 
  • Now, add chopped vegetables like carrots, cabbage, and capsicum to the pan. 
  • Add Spices like Red Chilli Powder and Salt, and saute well.
  • Let it cook for 2-3 minutes and then keep aside for cooking. 
  • Spread this filling onto the roti. 
  • Begin to roll the roti lightly from one edge. 
  • Serve with some spicy Coriander Chutney!
